D.C. United Soccer Geography
This program is a lesson plan based activity kit, developed for hand-on use in the classroom. Each packet contains reproducible lesson plans, desk maps, and background information. The packet also includes a Buy One Get One Free voucher to a 2008 D.C. United home game. This program is ideal for grades 4 through 8. Kit materials are free to teachers thanks to sponsorship from D.C. United. Each packet includes the option of a Spanish version of the lesson plans (if you want a copy in Spanish, just indicate so when you sign up).

2008 Major League Soccer season continues thru October.

Materials address Virginia SOL for Social Studies and Maryland’s Voluntary State Curriculum guidelines for Social Studies. Lesson plans parallel Virginia Standards of Learning (SOL), with emphasis on HSS.4.2.
Other key standards reviewed include HSS.2.4, HSS.3.2, HSS.3.5, HSS.3.6, and HSS.5.6.

The NCAA Basketball Championships SPORTING GEOGRAPHY program is a free packet that contains reproducible lesson plans, desk maps, and background information about the NCAA Division I, II, and III Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships. The packet includes ten (10) reproducible lesson plans plus background information for teachers and students to use over a multiple week period. The lesson plans feature various cities and states, basketball, mascots, the geography of sport, and a math exercise. A great spring semester activity to keep students interested and focused!

This program is ideal for grades four through eight. Materials address National Social Studies Standards, with emphasis on History and Geography.
