The Program

SPORTING GEOGRAPHY® is an educational program that offers a motivational way for students to learn while having fun. The program helps children learn geography, history and math at the elementary and middle school level. It is targeted for children ages 8-13, specifically in grades four through eight. SPORTING GEOGRAPHY materials provide teachers with a link to a current event while complementing their curriculum objectives.

Our Mission

To promote, support, and further the study of geography; to inform school age children of the opportunities and advantages of higher education; and to promote the importance of education in athletics by using sports as the subject of study.

Company Profile

SPORTING GEOGRAPHY® was started by Karen Fox in 1988. In 1990, Geography Insights From Today's Sports, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, was founded to manage the not-for-profit program. Today, teams from across the United States participate in the program. Across the country, thousands of classrooms are reached each week through SPORTING GEOGRAPHY materials and promotions.
